Airsoft BB's
There are many different brands of airsoft BB's. Personally I use Excel and Airsoft Elite brand BBs. Excel is the most highly regarded brand. Excel also has a bio-degradable BB - but don't expect them to degrade in your lifetime. Airsoft BB weightsAirsoft BB's come in several weights. For AEG's .20 and .25 weights are most popular. Believe it or not, there is really a difference between the two. .20's are cheaper, naturally. .25's have a little more weight to them. They don't go quite as far, but they tend to have a little more punch to them. If you can't decide which to use you can also try .23.
If you are shooting strictly for fun, .20's are the way to go simply because of the price. Airsoft is great as a game but some times it can be just as fun unloading a magazine at a few tin cans. Heavier weights are used, but usually only for "sniper" rifles. Players are strongly discouraged from using any metal-coated bb's at human targets. Most organized airsoft teams ban metal coated bb's. *Never re-use BB's!* Your $300+ gun is worth more than the pennies you'll save re-using dirty, deformed BBs. Re-using BB's in a cheap springer is generally acceptable but still not recommended. I've seen plenty of bags get dumped on the ground. Resist the temptation to use these in your guns.
